An outstanding student athlete at Clarion, Barb Seel was a great diver for the Golden Eagles. Barb, in her first season of diving, won the AIAW Division I National Championship on 1-meter in 1972. A broken leg kept her out of Easterns and Nationals in 1973. In 1974 she won the Eastern Championships on 1-meter, but broke her hand in the 100 backstroke. With that broken hand she completed her final series of dives on 3-meter and still finished 3rd. At Nationals two weeks later she placed 4th on 1 meter and 7th on 3 meter. In the Summer before her senior year she was seriously inured in an auto accident. With very little practice leading up to Easterns, she won both 1 and 3 meter boards, then placed 3rd and 5th at Nationals. A 1975 graduate with a degree in German, she had a 3.87 QPA.
