Chris Roosevelt was an outstanding four-year starting forward on the Golden Eagle Men’s Basketball team from 1980-83. In his career he played in all 114 games, ranked fourth in career scoring with 1,588 points, fifth in career rebounds (876) and in career assists (263). He captained the 1983 team, earned HM All-America honors, was a first team All-Region, PSAC-West and All-District selection while he was averaging 20.9ppg, shot a school record 61.2% from the floor, hauled in 238 rebounds, dished out 96 assists and shot 78% from the free throw line. In his career as a forward he shot an amazing 57 % from the floor (680 of 1,197) and 74% from the free throw line (232 of 315), while the Golden Eagles were posting an overall record of 77-37 and collecting three PSAC-West titles in 1980, 81 and 83. Roosevelt averaged 7.1ppg as a freshman with Clarion going 23-9 in 1980. In 1981 the Golden Eagles advanced to the NCAA D-II East Region finals while posting a 23-6 slate. He averaged 14.3ppg and 8.9 rebounds per game that season. In 1982 Roosevelt averaged 15.2ppg and 8.6 rebounds per game, his final season under then coach Joe DeGregorio. He closed his career under Dr. Richard Taylor and averaged 20.9ppg and 9.2 rebounds in 1983. A native of Buffalo, New York and Grover Cleveland High, Roosevelt returned to Buffalo following graduation and is currently employed by Southern Liquor and Wines Company.
