"Red" Bevevino, a native of Warren, PA, was an outstanding football player (quarterback), who led Clarion to greatness. A quarterback who lettered from 1949-52, Bevevino had his finest year in 1952 when he led the Golden Eagles to their first undefeated and untied season at 9-0. Bevevino passed for 18 touchdowns in 1952,led Clarion to an 8-0 regular season record, then directed the team to a 13-6 Lions Bowl win over East Carolina. 1n the Lions Bowl game, Bevevino received the President's Cup, signifying the game's MVP Award. His senior year he was named Honorable Mention Little All-American, first team AP All-State, first team All-District and 1st team State Teachers College. While earning three varsity tennis letters, Dave was president of the freshman class, plus treasurer of the Varsity "C" and Alpha Gamma Phi, and earned his bachelor's degree in education in 1953. After graduation he taught one year in Ashtabula, Ohio, and at Eisenhower High School in Russell, taught for 12 years at Clarion Area, three years at Keystone, and nearly 20 years at A.C. Valley High School.
