An outstanding wrestler for the Golden Eagles, Doug was Clarion’s first NCAA Division I wrestling All-American. A four-year starter, Doug wrestled at Clarion from 1966 to 1969. He compiled a career record of 56-17-3, had 13 pins and scored 124 dual meet points. In 1969 Doug was 20-6 overall, won the PSAC title at 160-pouds, placed fifth at the NAIA nationals and sixth at the NCAA Division I Nationals. In 1968 he was fourth at the PSAC meet, while in 1967 he was second at PSAC’s. Doug was team captain in 1968 and 1969. In his four years at Clarion the Golden Eagles had an unbelievable dual meet record of 47-9.
Born in Erie, Pa., Doug attended State College High School and graduated in 1965.A 1969 Clarion graduate with a degree in special education, Doug is currently high school guidance counselor at Bermudian Springs High in York Springs, Pa. Doug and wife Yonnie have a son Alan and a daughter Kristi.
