An outstanding four-year defensive starter for the Golden Eagles at linebacker and nose guard 197 4-77, Ed Arndt led the Golden Eagles to a four-year record of 28-7-3 on the gridiron, including the 1977 PSAC Championship. Clarion posted a 9-0-1 overall record in 1977 and defeated Millersville in the championship game 25-24. A 1977 NAJA 2nd team All-American and an AP "Little All American" at noseguard, Arndt was an HM All-American in 1976, a first team PSAC-West selection in 1975, 76, and 77 and a second team PSAC-West choice as a freshman in 1975. A co-captain for the PSAC champs in 1977, Arndt notched over 130 tackles and 15 qb sacks in 1977. A 1978 graduate of Clarion in secondary education, Ed was an assistant football coach at Shippensburg from 1978 to 82, worked for H.L. Bowman Inc. 1981-88 and is currently employed as a project manager for Herre Bros., Inc., of Harrisburg, Pa. A 1973 graduate of Hershey High and a 1974 graduate of Fork Union Military Academy.
