1994 Clarion University Grad - Management
Kwame Morton came to Clarion from Lafayette High School in Brooklyn, N.Y. in the Fall of 1990 and went on to become the most prolific scorer in PSAC and Clarion history. A 4-year starter at guard (1991-94) under coach Ron Righter, Kwame tallied a PSAC record 2,543 career points and set 21 Clarion and 10 PSAC records in the process. Among the combined PSAC & Clarion records are career points, single season points 845 (1994), 76 straight games hitting a three-point field goal, 411 career three pointers, 513 single season freshman points (1991) and much more. He owns the Clarion single game record with 56 points against Slippery Rock in 1994 and also scored 27 consecutive team points for the Eagles in that game. In 1994 alone he led all NCAA Division II players with a 32.5 points per game average, voted the Division II “Player of the Year”, a consensus First tem All-American including being named to the NABC/Sears First Team All-America squad. A first team PSAC-West selection in 1992-94, he was the PSAC West “Rookie of the Year” in 1991. He played in all of Clarion’s 105 games during his career and helped the Eagles to a 67-38 record. Married to April Thompson (Beaver Falls), the couple reside in Brooklyn, N.Y. and have six children including Cassandra, Kwame Jr., Kaleb, Kamel, Glory and Kamille. He is an assistant principal at P.S. 188.
