A gifted quarterback, Lou Hutcherson was Clarion's starting quarterback in 1959, 60, and 61. A running quarterback, Lou was known for his scrambling abilities as well as his extremely strong arm. He passed and ran the pigskin with great skill all three years and led the Golden Eagle grid team to a 6-1-1 record in 1959, a 3-4-1 mark in 1960, and a 5-2-1 slate in 1961. Although season and career stats are unavailable for those years, he was selected as an honorable mention "Little All American." "Hutch". was employed by E.J. Korvettes (Brooklyn, N.Y.) 1962-63, Fortunoffs Inc. (Brooklyn, N.Y.) 1963-64, and has been a Pennsylvania state policeman since 1964. Currently a lieutenant in the P.S.P., he is director of preventive services, Bureau of Community Services. A native of Vandergrift, Pa., and a 1959 graduate of Vandergrift Area High School, he was a standout in football, basketball, and baseball in high school.
