Loyal Jasper blazed a record trail on the track in his four seasons at Clarion. A 4-year starter and outstanding runner in the 200 and 400 meter races, as well as in the relays, Loyal's top season came in 1984, his junior year. Jasper won the 200 meter PSAC title running a school record 21.5 time, then won the 400 meter title with a school record 47.9 clocking. The 1600 meter relay team placed 5th. For his contributions Jasper was voted the PSAC "Track Athlete of the Year" for 1984. In 1984, his senior year, Loyal placed 3rd at PSAC's in the 400 meters, and led the 4 X 100 relay team to a 4th place finish. As a freshman in 1982, Jasper exploded on the scene placing 4th at PSAC's in the 400 and helping the 1600 meter relay squad to a 3rd place ending. In 1983 he was 2nd in the 400 and 3rd in the 200 at PSAC's. That year he helped set the 1600 meter relay record with a win at the Penn Relays with a 3:17.4 time. A 1985 Communications grad, Loyal is a Pittsburgh native and a 1980 graduate of Peabody.
