Mike Zucca won more national titles than any other male diver who took to the boards for the storied diving program at Clarion. Mike, who still holds the Clarion record oon three meter (six dives) with 342.90 points, was a nine-time national champion and won numerous PSAC titles under coach Don Leas. In 1975 Mike won the NCAA Div. II national championship on three meter and the NAIA championship on one and three meter boards. In 1976 he won both one and three meter boards at NCAA’s and three meter board at NAIA’s, while he took to honors on one meter and three meter at NAIA’s in 1977. Mike was co-captain of the Golden Eagles in 1978 and won one meter board at NCAA’s. He helped the Golden Eagles to four straight PSAC team titles from 1975 to 1978. Mike also set PSAC records in winning both boards I 1977. He totaled 474.30 points on one meter and 514.30 points on three meter.
Born in Teaneck, N.J., and a 1974 graduate of Waldwick High School, he graduated from Clarion in 1978 with a degree in business administration. From 1979 to 1990 he served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. rmy. He currently resides in Winfield, Iowa with wife Patricia.
