Paul Clark was an outstanding wrestling for the Golden Eagles NCAA Division I Wrestling program from 1984-87 under Clarion and National Wrestling Hall of Fame head coach Bob Bubb. A senior, co-captain in 1987, Clark capped his career with a fifth place, All-America finish at 134-pounds at nationals. Clarion, as a team, was sixth at nationals that year. Clark was 34-7-1 his senior year, won a PSAC title, was second at EWL’s and Midlands Champion, finishing a brilliant career with an overall record of 113-26-1. In 1986 Clark was 24-2 overall, EWL Champion and second at PSAC’s. He was ranked first in the nation at 134 most of the year, fractured his hand at PSAC’s and qualified for nationals. He was part of Clarion’s great dual meet team that went 17-0-1 and ranked third in the nation in the final season poll. In 1985 he won PSAC’s, and received a wild card to D-I Nationals while finishing the year with a 33-6 record. He was 22-1 as a freshman in 1984 and second at PSAC’s. The 1983 Everett grad returned home after graduation and has been a teacher in the Everett School System since 1990. Paul and wife Sharon reside in Clearville and have two sons Clinton and Dale.
