An outstanding basketball player at Clarion University, Bob Kelly was a three-year starter for the Golden Eagles from 1950 to 52. He was co-captain of the great 1952 team at Clarion that was 17-0 in the regular season and won the NAIB District 30 playoffs to move their record to 19-0 and a spot in the NAIB national playoffs before losing to Utah State. His junior year, 1951, Kelly led the team in scoring (13.5ppg) and led Clarion to the Teachers College and Western Pa. Class B Championships. Kelly was voted as a first team choice on the All West Penn Teachers, All Tri-State, and MVP All West Penn Teachers his junior and senior years. Bob also earned one baseball letter at Clarion and led the team while batting .500 . After earning his degree in education (social studies) in 1952, he taught at Turtle Creek, Pa., from 1952 to 1970, and employed by Dade County Schools since 1958.
