In two seasons of swimming for the Golden Eagles, Tracy Coper left an unbelievable legacy in the pool as a butterfly and IM. specialist. In 1981 Tracy helped the Golden Eagles win their sixth straight PSAC title and the AlA W Division II National Championship. Her performance at nationals was a first, and has not been duplicated. At nationals Tracy swam seven events, winning all seven, and helped set national records in all seven events. Individually she won the 50 butterfly (26.15), 100 fly (56.43), 200 fly (2:02.74), and the 100 I.M. (59.10), while the 800 free (7:44.00) and 400 free (3:35.0) relays and the 400 medley relay (4:00.48) all set new records in winning. In 1982 Tracy again led Clarion to PSAC and Division II Titles. At nationals Cooper won two more gold medals in the 100 fly and 100 I.M. A 14-time All-American and 9-time National Champion, Tracy also was a 13-time PSAC champion in 14 events. A 1978 graduate of Conestoga High (Pa.), she earned her B.S. degree in Special education from Clarion in 1983, was a physical therapy assistant from 1986 to 1990 at Baptist Hospital in Nashville, Tenn.
