A fleet-footed running back at Clarion from 1937 to 1940, Sheridan established himself as one of the best runners ever at Clarion.
The New Bethlehem, Pa., native and 1933 graduate of Punxsutawney High School earned letters in all four years at Clarion (1937-40).
He was the leading collegiate scorer in the East and fifth in the nation in 1939. He rushed for 334 yards in a game versus Thiel in 1939. In his four years Clarion had a 17-10-1 record.
Voted to the Little All-American team in 1939, he was also voted to the All-State team the same year and was team captain in 1940. Bill graduated from Clarion in 1941 and played professionally for the New York Yankees for one season (1941) before returning to Clarion.
An assistant football coach at Clarion 1949-52 and 1958-60, he was Clarion's long-time postmaster before retiring in 1969. Bill was named by the Pittsburgh Press to the All-Time Clarion team in 1961.
At the time of his induction, Sheridan lived in Crozier, Va, with his wife Anita. Theyhad a son, Michael, and a dauther, Patricia.
