California Rallies Past Clarion for 3-2 Win

CLARION - Clarion's 12-game win streak came to an end Tuesday night 3-2 at the hands of California.

The Vulcans rallied from a 2-1 deficit taking Games 4 (30-22) and 5 (15-12) after Clarion had won Games 2 (30-24) and 3 (30-16). Cal won the first game 30-21.

Sarah Fries led the Golden Eagles (12-1 overall, 2-1 PSAC-West) with 17 kills and 22 digs, while Christina Steiner added 22 kills and 14 digs. Kristi Fiorillo had 57 assists and 17 digs, and Vicky Gentile had 20 digs. Amanda Angermeier chipped in with 10 kills, and Sarah Sheffield had six kills, four blocks and four assists.

Clarion returns to action this weekend when it travels to Philadelphia for a 2-game trip. The Eagles will face Bloomfield at 2 p.m. Saturday and then play Holy Family at 4 p.m. Saturday. Clarion returns home to take on IUP at 7 p.m. next Tuesday.
