Clarion Drops 3-1 Decision to Edinboro

EDINBORO - The Clarion University women's volleyball team suffered its first road loss of the season 3-1 at Edinboro Tuesday night in PSAC-West play.

The Golden Eagles (17-3 overall, 3-2 PSAC-West) entered the match 5-0 on the road (9-1 at neutral sites) but got behind 2-0 (24-30, 17-30) to the streaking Fighting Scots (16-5, 4-1), who have won six straight and 13 of their last 15 matches.

Clarion rallied to take Game Three 30-25 but dropped the fourth game 30-20. It was the first Golden Eagle loss that didn't go five games.

Christina Steiner paced Clarion with 15 kills and 16 digs, Sarah Fries added 10 kills and 10 digs, Kristi Fiorillo had 36 set assists, 10 digs, two service aces and three blocks and Vicky Gentile added 22 digs.

Clarion is now off until Tuesday when it hosts Slippery Rock at 7 p.m.
