CLARION - The Clarion University women's volleyball team upped its record to 22-3 on the season by going 2-0 in PSAC Crossover action Saturday afternoon at Clarion's Tippin Gym.
The Golden Eagles beat Kutztown 3-0 (30-24, 30-23, 30-28) and Millersville 3-0 (30-20, 30-24, 30-22).
In the Kutztown match, senior Christina Steiner had 15 kills and 13 digs and became the third player in school history with 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs. Melanie Bull and Sara Heyl are the other two. Also against Kutztown Sarah Fries had 23 kills, 12 digs and three blocks, Kristi Fiorillo added 48 set assists and nine digs and Vicky Gentile had 28 digs.
Fries also led the offense over Millersville with 16 kills and six digs with Steiner recording a double-double with 13 kills and 16 digs. Katie Auran added 13 digs, and Fiorillo had 44 assists, two kills and two aces.
The Golden Eagles return to action Tuesday at California in a key PSAC-West contest. Clarion can clinch a PSAC Playoff berth with a win over Cal or a Lock Haven loss at Slippery Rock Tuesday.
