CLARION WRESTLERS 1-2 AT LOCK HAVEN DUALS

December 16, 2007

(Lock Haven): Clarion's Wrestling team traveled to Lock Haven on Sunday and posted a 1-2 record at the Lock Haven Duals.

The Golden Eagles opened with a 27-14 loss to Pitt-Johnstown, lost a 22-16 decision to Drexel and then finished with a 29-15 win over East Stroudsburg. Clarion now has a dual meet record of 3-6.

"I thought Sal (Lascari) and Hadley (Harrison) showed their team leadership with 3-0 records today," reflected second year head coach Teague Moore. "Travis (Uncapher) also wrestled well, but we lost a few critical bouts that kept us from having a winning day."

Clarion's 29-15 win over East Stroudsburg featured six wins for the Golden Eagles, including winning five of the first six bouts to take a commanding 23-3 lead.

Jay Ivanco opened the match with an 11-3 major decision over Matt Benedetti at 125, and Tony Lascari lost a 3-2 decision to Matt Swallow to narrow Clarion's lead to 4-3. The Golden Eagles followed with four straight wins.

Sal Lascari posted an 8-5 decision over Sean Carr at 141, Hadley Harrison pinned Alex Bimes at 1:34, Travis Uncapher majored Kyle Heselpoth 10-1 and Dave Cox pinned Joe Schick at 2:26 to put Clarion ahead 23-3.

Dixon Jordan won by forfeit at 197 to finish the scoring against the Warriors.

Clarion led at that point 13-9, but UPJ won the final 5 bouts.

Jay Ivanco lost a tough 5-4 decision to Derrek Bosso (ranked #3) at 125 and Mario Morelli also lost a tough 3-1 decision to #6 ranked Albert Miles.

The second match saw Clarion lose 22-16 to Drexel. The Golden Eagles led 10-4 after 149, but Drexel won 5 straight matches to take a 22-10 lead before the Eagles won a forfeit at heavyweight. Tony Lascari posted a 10-8 decision over Billy Martin at 133, Sal Lascari won an 11-4 decision over Morgan Remillard at 141 and Hadley Harrison majored Kyle Bub 13-1 to give Clarion its 10-4 lead.
