CLARION - Clarion's women's volleyball team fell 3-1 to Edinboro in a PSAC-West match Friday night at Clarion.
The Golden Eagles, ranked eighth in the Atlantic Region, had upset on their minds in the early going taking a 25-23 decision in the first set against the second-ranked Fighting Scots.
But Edinboro fought back winning the next three by scores of 25-17, 25-18 and 25-14.
Kellie Bartman and Kaitlyn Anderson each had 10 kills for Clarion, while Danielle Brunot added two blocks and Amanda Gough 34 set assists. Gough and Rhianon Brady led the defense with 13 digs each.
With the loss, Clarion falls to 11-12 overall and 2-5 in the PSAC-West. The Golden Eagles return to action Saturday morning when it hosts Lake Erie at 10:30 a.m. Clarion then hosts West Liberty State at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
NOTES - Tuesday's 7 p.m. home match vs. Gannon will be a "Dig for the Cure" match to raise awareness of breast cancer. As part of the night, the women's volleyball team will be selling T-shirts for $12 with $5 going toward breast cancer research. The teams will also be collecting donations and giving out pink ribbons. Everyone is encouraged to wear pink.
