LOCK HAVEN - The Clarion University men's basketball team had five players score in double digits led by 16 points and 12 rebounds from Ricky Henderson to get an 81-58 win at Lock Haven Wednesday night.
The Golden Eagles (14-10 overall, 6-4 PSAC-West), who have won three straight, led by eight, 38-30, at halftime before outscoring Lock Haven 43-28 in the second half. Clarion started the second half with a 12-3 run to quickly erase any thought of a Bald Eagle comeback.
Damon Gross, Lonnell Jones and Josh Yanke each added 14 points for Clarion, which shot 53.2 percent from the floor, the third straight game Clarion has been above 50 percent shooting. Demetrius Graham added 10 points and five steals.
Lock Haven (2-22, 2-8) got 22 points from Billy Arre and 13 from Denny Mortimer.
Clarion's win coupled with Slippery Rock's win over IUP leaves the Golden Eagles in third place in the PSAC-West 1 ½ games up on both IUP (4-5 PSAC-West) and Slippery Rock (4-5) with two PSAC-West games left for each team. The top four teams from the PSAC-West advance to the PSAC Playoffs.
Clarion returns to action Sunday when it hosts Briarcliffe in a non-conference game starting at 2 p.m.
NOTES - Clarion outrebounded Lock Haven 43-22 while sweeping the season series from the Bald Eagles.
