Final Stats

(CLARION, PA.): The Clarion Women's Swimming and Diving team raised its season record to 9-1 on Friday night defeating IUP 141-94 at Tippin Natatorium in a dual meet that also honored 5 senior women in ther final home meet.

In the pool Lori Leitzinger (Sr. State College) was a double winner taking the 200 freestyle (1:57.64) and the 100 backstroke (58.17).

Also in the winners circle was Gina Mattucci (Fr. Jeannette) in the 50 free (24.99), Kaitlyn Johnson (Fr. Uniontown) in the 100 free (53.84), Laura Herron (Parma, Oh.) in the 1000 freestyle (10:56.39), Carissa Wetzel (Fr. Allentown) in the 100 fly (1:01.65) and Rebecca Burgess (So. Gibsonia) in the 400 IM (4:46.26).

The 200 medley relay (1:49.24) team of Leitzinger, Simens, Wetzel and Johnson took that event, while Johnson, Mary Kaveny, Kelly Connolly and Mattucci won the 200 free relay (1:40.11).

Senior divers Ginny Saras (Sugarloaf) and Teagan Riggs (Meadville) split the diving events. Saras won the 1 meter (252.35) and was second on the 3 meter board (250.90). Riggs meanwhile won 3 meter (281.15) and was second on 1 meter (251.85). Freshman Kayla Kelosky (Ellwood City) was third on both boards.

CLARION NOTES: After swimming at Pitt on Saturday (Feb. 2), the team will be off until the PSAC Championships on Feb. 21-24 at Cumberland Valley High School.. Seniors honored included Sari Cattoni, Stevie Coble, Lori Leitzinger, Teagan Riggs and Ginny Saras on Friday night.
