(California, Pa.): Clarion's softball team opened the PSAC-West season on Saturday at California and dropped both ends of a doubleheader, losing the first game 5-0 and the nightcap 7-0.
Clarion's Lindsay Vevers pitched a complete game in the opener, yielding 9 hits and 5 runs, walked only one batter and struck out 1.
At the plate the Eagles were held to two hits, one each from Kara Kelosky and Lauren Martino.
In game two Caitlin Lamison was the losing pitcher for Clarion and also went the distance. She gave up 7 runs, 4 earned with 11 hits and 3 strike outs.
The Clarion offense managed only 3 hits in game two. Carlie Cook, Marissa Myers and Suzie DeNillo each had one hit.
Clarion drops to 1-8 overall and 0-2 in the PSAC-West. Clarion travels to Lock Haven on Sunday.
