LOGAN LEADS CALIFORNIA PAST CLARION IN PSAC PLAYOFFS

CALIFORNIA - Julian Logan scored 25 points to lead California to an 82-66 win over Clarion in the opening round of the PSAC men's basketball playoffs Tuesday night at Cal's Hamer Hall.

The Vulcans (23-5) led by 11, 40-29, at halftime before Clarion (16-12) cut the deficit to two, 44-42, with a 13-4 run after the break. But Cal answered with a 12-2 run to put the game back into double digits.

"They got some transition baskets in that span, and (Theron) Colao hit some big shots," Clarion head coach Ron Righter said. "For whatever reason, Colao always has a big games against us."

Colao scored 12 points on 4 of 5 from 3-point range on Clarion.

Damon Gross led the Golden Eagles with 14 points and eight rebounds while shooting 7 of 10 from the floor. Lonnell Jones added 12 points and four assists, while Ricky Henderson had 10 points. Demetrius Graham added six points, four assists and seven steals. Freshman Mike Sherry had eight points for Clarion and finishes the season with 332 the most by a freshman at Clarion since Shawn Bellis had 358 in 1995 while winning the PSAC-West Rookie of the Year award.
