CLARION - The Clarion University baseball team dropped a doubleheader to visiting California Saturday afternoon at Memorial Field.
In Game One, the Vulcans used a four-run second inning to get a 7-1 win, and in Game Two, California combined for seven runs in the third and fourth innings to get a 12-0 victory.
In the first game, Jason Krimsky was 1-for-3 with a triple and a run scored for Clarion. He scored on the triple in the fourth inning thanks to a Cal error. Clarion was limited to just four hits in the game.
John Hynes took the loss going four innings and allowing seven runs, all earned, on eight hits, three walks and a hit batter. He struck out one. Paul Baker threw three scoreless innings of relief allowing three hits and a walk while striking out five.
In Game Two, Clarion had five hits including one each from Jordan Premick, Matt Rossi, Doug Brown, Tyler Schwab and George Kovac. Rossi had a double.
Greg Bandzuh took the loss going 2 1/3 innings and allowing four earned runs on 10 hits and a walk while striking out one.
With the losses, Clarion falls to 7-18 overall and 1-11 in the PSAC-West. The Golden Eagles return to action Thursday at Allegheny.
