(Clarion, Pa.): Clarion University's Women's Tennis team lost to Slippery Rock on Thursday by an 8-1 score at the Campbell Courts.

The Golden Eagles dropped to 8-8 on the season and finish the PSAC-Western Division with a 2-2 mark. Slippery Rock, ranked 23rd in D-II, raised its record to 17-2 overall and 3-1 in the West.

Clarion's lone win came at #5 singles where Kassie Leuschel defeated Chelsea Gibson 6-4, 6-2.

In other singles matches at #1 Corin Rombach lost to Kayla Blackburn 6-4, 6-2; at #2 Lisa Baumgartner lost 6-2, 6-2 to Laura Handy; at #3 Brittany Bovalino lost 6-2, 6-0 to Samantha Blackburn; at #4 Devin Rombach lost to Jessi Hilborn 6-0, 6-2; and at #6 Sharayah Campbell lost 6-4, 6-2 to Lara Rizzi.

In doubles action Clarion's Rombach/Rombach lost 8-3 to Blackburn and Handy. At #2 doubles Baumgartner amd Leuschel lost to Samantha Blackburn and Hilborn 8-6, and at #3 Bovalino and Campbell lost to Gibson and Rizzi 8-2.

Clairon closes out its Spring season on April 22nd when the Golden eagles host Mercyhurst at 3:30pm at the Campbell Courts.
