Marissa Myers had a two-run single in the bottom of the seventh inning that lifted the Clarion University softball team to a 7-6 win over Bowie State in Game Two of a doubleheader at Slippery Rock Thursday.
Clarion (4-27) trailed 6-3 going to the bottom of the seventh thanks to a three-run seventh by Bowie State. But the Golden Eagles got within a run and had the bases loaded for Myers with one out, who delivered the game-winning hit.
Lindsay Vevers got the win in relief of Caitlin Lamison. Vevers went one inning of scoreless relief after replacing Lamison with two runners on and no outs in the seventh. She got a double play and then a third out.
Lamison went the first six-plus innings and allowed six runs, five earned, on 12 hits and two walks while striking out three.
Myers was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, while Kara Kelosky was 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.
In the first game, Valorie Rankin took the loss going five innings and allowing four runs, all earned, on two walks and five hits. She struck out four.
Lauren Martino was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Katie Baun added an RBI and a run scored.
Clarion returns to action Friday with its final home games of the season when it hosts Slippery Rock in a PSAC-West doubleheader starting at 2:30 p.m. It is Senior Day for the Golden Eagles.
