CLARION FINISHES SEASON WITH LOSSES AT EDINBORO

EDINBORO - The Clarion University softball team concluded its season by dropping a pair of games at Edinboro in PSAC-West play Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles lost Game One 8-0 in six innings and then suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 loss in the season finale.

In that second game, the contest was tied at one through 5 ½ innings before Edinboro used some two out lighting to take a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the sixth off of reliever Valorie Rankin.

Clarion tried to rally in the top of the seventh when Caitlin Lamison led off the inning with a double. But the Golden Eagles could get her no farther than third base ending the comeback attempt.

Lamison started and pitched well going five innings and allowing one earned run on four hits and three walks while striking out one. Rankin went one inning allowing one earned run on one hit and a walk.

Nicole Lollo led Clarion's offense going 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Jenelle Hallowell scored the Golden Eagle's lone run.

Game One was all Edinboro with the Fighting Scots scoring three times in the bottom of the first on their way to the 8-0, six-inning win.

Lindsay Vevers took the loss going 5 2/3 innings and allowing eight runs, three of them earned, on 10 hits and one walk.

Clarion's offense had four hits - all singles. Lollo, Suzie DeNillo, Hallowell and Brittany Becker had the hits.

Clarion finishes the season 4-31 overall and 0-20 in the PSAC-West.
