Golden Eagles drop doubleheader to Seton Hill

Clarion - The Clarion University baseball team was swept in a doubleheader by visiting Seton Hill Wednesday.

In Game One, the Griffiths scored twice in the top of the sixth to get a 3-1 win, and in Game Two Seton Hill built a 10-1 lead and then held off a Clarion rally that included a six-run sixth to get a 10-7 win.

The losses drop the Golden Eagles to 12-26 on the season.

In Game One, Eric Panko was the hard-luck loser going seven innings and allowing three earned runs on seven hits. He struck out eight and didn't walk a batter.

Matt Rossi led the offense going 2-for-3 with a run scored. Andrew Petruska had Clarion's lone RBI.

In the nightcap, Robert Pollum took the loss going five innings and allowing seven runs, four of them earned, on nine hits and four walks while striking out five. Nate Semovoski allowed three runs and five hits in one inning of work, while Jonathan Giuliani pitched a scoreless inning of relief with one strikeout.

Rossi once again led the offense going 2-for-4 with a double and a home run. He drove in two and scored twice. Also getting RBIs for Clarion were Jason Krimsky, Jake Yackovich, Chad White, Jordan Premick and Petruska.

The Golden Eagles return to action Thursday at Mount Aloysius.
