(Clarion, Pa.): Lock Haven, who has won the last two PSAC softball titles and was the 2006 NCAA D-II National Champion, swept the Golden Eagles in a doubleheader at Memorial Stadium on Monday afternoon.
Lock Haven won the opener 10-0, and came back to take the nightcap 20-0. Clarion's record fell to 2-15 overall and 0-8 in PSAC-West play. Lock Haven is now 27-5 overall and 8-0 in the West.
Clarion only had three baserunners in game one including a single by Carlie Cook, who was also hit by a pitch.
Valorie Rankin pitched into the sixth and took the loss. She yielded 9 runs, only 6 earned, walked two and struck out two. Caitlin Lamison came on in the seventh.
In game two Lock Haven scored 4 in the first, 1 in the second and 7 in the third to take command of the game.
Lindsay Vevers pitched 3.1 innings and gave up 8 runs, 5 earned, with 3 strike outs and 2 walks to her credit. Lamiso pitched .2 innings and gave up 7 runs, while Rankin pitched one inning in relief to finish the game.
Nicole Lollo and Carlie Cook both had singles for Clarion in game two.
Clarion hosts Tiffin on Wednesday in a doubleheader starting at 3pm.
