CLARION - Katrina Greer, Lizzie Suwala and Sara Pratt combined to score 34 points and grab 18 rebounds in a heartbreaking 67-63 loss to visiting East Stroudsburg for the Clarion University women's basketball team Saturday afternoon at Tippin Gym.
Greer and Pratt each bucketed 12 points and Suwala had 10 with Pratt and Greer each gathering seven rebounds.
Clarion (3-6) used a half-ending 19-7 run to take a 30-18 halftime lead and then went up 14, 44-30, on a Rachel Graeff 3-pointer with 12:03 to play.
East Stroudsburg (6-4) rallied, though, going on a 22-8 run to take its first lead since early in the first half at 55-54 on a 3-pointer by Jackie Yandrisevits, who led all scorers with 22 points, with 3:38 left.
Clarion tied the game on a Pratt free throw 13 seconds later, but Alexa Detzi's hoop with 3:02 remaining put the Warriors ahead for good.
The Golden Eagles had one last chance to tie the game trailing by three with seven seconds left but came up short.
Clarion returns to action Sunday when it hosts Kutztown at 1 p.m.
