EAGLE SPIKERS SECURE 20TH WIN

KUTZTOWN - Behind 50 assists, 13 digs and four blocks from Amanda Gough, the Clarion University women's volleyball team picked up its 20th win of the season with a 3-1 (25-16, 25-14, 25-27, 25-12) victory at Kutztown in PSAC Crossover action Saturday afternoon.

 

It is the 17th time in school history and the eighth time in the last nine season the Golden Eagles (20-4 overall, 10-1 PSAC) have won 20 games, and Clarion's 20-4 start is the third best in school history after 24 games behind a pair of 21-3 starts in 2002 (31-5 final record) and 2007 (28-6 final record).

 

Gough got plenty of help from her teammates, as Kellie Bartman added 13 kills, nine digs, Nicole Andrusz 11 kills, two blocks and Leeann Higginbotham 10 kills.

 

Danielle Brunot chipped in eight kills and four blocks for Clarion (20-4, 10-1 PSAC), and Rebecca Webb had seven kills and six blocks.

 

Rhianon Brady (25 digs), Joy Carey (18 digs) and Alison Bolinger (eight digs) paced the defense for the Golden Eagles.
