CALIFORNIA - In a battle of two of the top ranked teams in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region, top-ranked California overcame an early deficit to topple fourth-seeded Clarion 3-1 Saturday afternoon in PSAC women's volleyball action.
Clarion (24-7 overall, 14-3 PSAC) won the first set 25-23 but lost the next two by identical 12-25 scores before falling in the fourth set 18-25.
Rebecca Webb and Kellie Bartman each had 10 digs to lead the Golden Eagles, who locked up a PSAC playoff berth with a 3-1 win over IUP Friday night. Webb added two blocks.
Kaitlyn Anderson chipped in nine kills and Nicole Andrusz seven kills and two blocks for Clarion, who also got 10 digs from Rhianon Brady and 32 set assists and six digs from Amanda Gough.
Clarion closes out its regular season next weekend with a pair of matches. The Golden Eagles host Edinboro at 7 p.m. Friday and Gannon at 1 p.m. Saturday.
