LOCK HAVEN - Despite getting a double-double from Kellie Bartman, the Clarion University women's volleyball team fell 3-0 to Lock Haven in the PSAC Semifinals Friday night at Lock Haven.
Bartman recorded 10 kills and 10 digs and also added two blocks, but the Golden Eagles (26-9) lost in straight sets by the scores of 25-22, 25-18, 25-20.
"It was a learning experience," Clarion head coach Jennifer Harrison said about her young teams first foray into the PSAC Final Four. "Hopefully, next time we are in this situation we can learn from tonight."
Nicole Andrusz added seven kills and a block, Kaitlyn Anderson had six kills and a block and Rebecca Webb five kills and three blocks for Clarion. Amanda Gough set up Clarion's offense with 24 assists and added eight digs, two kills and two blocks, while Rhianon Brady chipped in 15 digs. Of those players, only Andrusz was a member of Clarion's PSAC runner-up squad two seasons ago.
Clarion, which is ranked second in this week's NCAA Division II Atlantic Region poll, must now wait and see if it receives an at-large bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament.
Lock Haven (32-4), which avenged a 3-2 loss to Clarion earlier in the season, will face two-time defending champion California for the PSAC Title Saturday at Lock Haven.
NOTES - Clarion is now 26-26 all-time in postseason play including 0-2 vs. Lock Haven ... The Golden Eagles are looking for their sixth NCAA Division II playoff appearance since 2002 and their first since 2007.
