BALANCED EFFORT LEADS CLARION PAST SALEM INTERNATIONAL

SALEM, W Va. - Five players scored in double figures to lead the Clarion University men's basketball team to an 83-57 win at Salem International on the first day of the Joe Manchin Classic at the Underwood Armory in Salem, W. Va.

Mike Sherry scored a game-high 17 points including 5 of 10 from 3-point range while adding four rebounds, three assists and two steals. Lloyd Harrison chipped in 16 points, 11 assists, seven steals and six rebounds.

Also reaching double figures for the Golden Eagles (4-2) were Shameel Carty, Jamar Harrison and Brandyn Mungo. All three had 13 points with Carty adding five boards and Jamar Harrison four. Mungo hit 4 of 6 3-pointers including four straight between the 10-minute mark and the 4-minute mark of the first half helping Clarion build a 47-27 halftime lead. Paul McQueen chipped in with seven points and nine rebounds for Clarion.

Dominic Chappell led Salem International with 11 points, while Demetrick Walker added nine points. The game was the first played by Salem International on the historic Underwood Armory since 1973.

Clarion returns to action at 3 p.m. Saturday when it faces Ohio St.-Newark at the Salem Invitational.
