URBANA, Ohio - Urbana outscored Clarion 42-28 in the second half to break open a 1-point lead at halftime and get a 66-51 win over the visiting Golden Eagles in non-conference women's basketball action Saturday afternoon.
Clarion (2-2) trailed by just a point, 24-23, at halftime before Urbana started the second half on a 17-5 run to take a 13-point lead. The Golden Eagles were never able to get closer than nine the rest of the game.
Bethany Koch was the lone Clarion player in double figures scoring 16 points and adding eight rebounds, an assist, a block and a steal. She shot 6 of 12 from the field. Lizzie Suwala and Sara Pratt each added nine points for the Golden Eagles with Pratt chipping in seven rebounds and Suwala eight boards and three blocked shots. Courtney Healy added seven points and seven rebounds. Clarion shot just 32.3 percent (20 of 62) from the floor including 3 of 15 from 3-point range. The Golden Eagles were 10 of 35 in the first half.
Ashley Falknor led Urbana (3-5) with 12 points and 15 points, while Haley Ducey chipped in 12 points and five boards. Unique Lane added 11 tallies and Andrea Vogel 10. Urbana shot 39.7 percent from the floor including a sizzling 13 of 26 in the second half.
Clarion returns to action at 6 p.m. Tuesday when it hosts West Virginia Wesleyan.
