ERIE - Mercyhurst swept a PSAC-West doubleheader from visiting Clarion Saturday afternoon.
The Lakers won Game One 9-0 and Game Two 7-1.
In Game One, Eric Panko took the loss for Clarion (11-28 overall, 6-14 PSAC-West) going 3 1/3 innings and allowing eight runs, seven earned, on eight hits and four walks while striking out two. Kevin Keebler went the final 2 2/3 innings allowing one earned run on two hits and one walk while striking out one. Jason Krimsky and Scott Berkes each had singles for the Golden Eagles.
In Game Two, Gregg Bandzuh took the loss going four innings and allowing three runs, all earned, on four hits and one walk while striking out two. Eric Kempton allowed three earned runs on four hits and a walk in 1/3 of an inning while Brandon Slater went 1 2/3 innings and allowed one earned run on two hits and two walks while striking out two.
Matt White was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI for the Golden Eagles, while Krimsky was 1-for-3 with a run scored. Berkes, Matt Rossi and Chuck Roller also added hits for Clarion.
Clarion returns to action at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Point Park.
NOTES - Clarion's doubleheader with Pitt-Johnstown April 28 has been cancelled.
