(PHILADELPHIA, PA.): Despite a tie-breaker win from #1 singles player Jaclyn Metzger, the Clarion women's tennis team lost in a close match-up against West Chester with a final score of 5-4.

In singles play Clarion got wins at #1 singles from Jaclyn Metzger who defeated Loisiana Soute 0-6, 7-6 (1), 7-6 (9) and from #4 singles with Devin Rombach defeating Stephanie Ritchey 6-2, 6-0.

Clarion won two matches in doubles action. At #1 Metzger and Haylee Gardner defeated Loisiana Soute and Kara Shumock 8-6, and at #3 Sharayah Campbell and Michaela Hardy defeated Allie Melhem and Jessica Trahey 8-2. "This was the first time Sharayah and Michaela played together, and they played very well," said head coach Lori Sabatose. The match came down to the #3 singles match, where a win for Clarion would have secured a victory.

Clarion will be back in action Sept. 19 against Cheyney. This match is also taking place in West Chester.
