SHIPPENSBURG – The Clarion University women’s volleyball team swept a pair of games at the Shippensburg Tournament Friday beating Ashland 3-2 in a come-from-behind match and then dispatching Glenville St. 3-0.
In the first match of the day, Clarion found itself trailing Ashland 2-0 having lost by scores of 25-17 and 26-24 before the Golden Eagles beat Ashland 25-21, 25-21 and 15-9 to win the match.
Nicole Andrusz had 24 kills and six blocks, Rebecca Webb had 10 kills and six blocks and Amanda Gough added 45 set assists, 16 digs and five blocks. Defensively, Rhianon Brady had 20 digs and Joy Carey had 17 digs.
In the nightcap, Clarion had an easier time winning by scores of 25-11, 25-9 and 25-19.
Kellie Bartman led the way with nine kills, Webb added six kills and five blocks, Gough had 14 assists and Carey 10 digs.
The wins improve Clarion to 5-0 on the season with two more games Saturday at Shippensburg.
