Bartman had 17 kills and seven digs, Anderson 15 kills and 11 digs and Webb 11 kills and eight blocks as Clarion rallied from a 1-0 deficit to take the final three sets. Scores were 21-25, 25-15, 25-18, 25-20.
Beightol, meanwhile, who was forced into action when Gough, Clarion's starting setter suffered a pre-match injury, had 42 set assists, 23 digs, two kills and a block.
“Rebecca was nervous in the first set,” Clarion head coach Jennifer Harrison said. “But she shook those off and did a great job. She was fantastic on defense. We have a lot of confidence in Rebecca.”
Clarion (21-3 overall, 13-1 PSAC-West), which is ranked third in the Atlantic Region, will travel to second-ranked California for a 1 p.m. match.
NOTES – Gough's status is day-to-day … Clarion will be holding a “Set the Record Night/Halloween Bash” when it hosts Mercyhurst at 7 p.m. next Friday (Oct. 29). The Golden Eagles will be trying to fill Tippin Gym with a crowd of over 1,800 and all Clarion University students with a valid ID card will be eligible to win one of three $150 Clarion Book Store gift cards. Two gift cards, one to a male winner and one to a female winner, will be given out to the students best in the best Halloween costumes while a third gift card will be awarded to Clarion University students via a random drawing.
