PEARSALL LEADS DIVERS IN OPENER

Logan Pearsall Won 3 of 4 Events Over The Weekend

(Clarion, Pa.):
Clarion senior diver Logan Pearsall (Port Allegany), the 2010 “NCAA D-II Diver of the Year”, won three of four events over the weekend pacing the Golden Eagle diving team at the Fall Classic on Saturday and the Clarion Diving Invitational on Sunday in the opening events of the 2010-11 season.
 
            Held at the W.S. Tippin Natatorium, Pearsall opened the weekend winning the three meter board on Saturday with 324.83 points, while also finishing fourth on one meter with 274.72. On Sunday Pearsall swept both boards winning the one meter with 330.70 and the three meter with 339.05 points.
 
            Freshman diver Ethan Merritt (San LuisObispo, Ca.) won the one meter on Saturday with a total of 317.62, plus was second on three meter totaling 307.65. On Sunday he was third on both one (287.90) and three meter (284.80) boards.
 
            Clarion also had strong performances from Justin Duncan (Jr. South Park) and Seth Brandenburg (Fr. Canton, Ohio – Perry).
 
            Duncan, a two-time All-American last year, was second on one meter (298.95) and third on three meter (282.0) on Saturday, and finished second on both boards on Sunday scoring 291.60 on one meter and 294.70 on three meter.
 
            Brandenburg was 7th on one meter on Saturday (224.17) and fifth on one meter on Sunday (259.50).
 
            CLARION NOTES: Pearsall won both boards at nationals last year – He also won on 3 meter in 2009 and was second on 1 meter that season … Divers from Wayne State (Mi.) competed both days, while divers from Ashland and Gannon competed in Sunday's meet … Clarion diving coach Dave Hrovat, who is beginning his 21st season with the Eagles, has been D-II “Coach of the Year” 19-times with Eagle divers winning 35 individual titles and 205 All-America awards.
