Rhianon Brady had 27 digs as Clarion defeated Mercyhurst 3-0 Friday evening. Brady finished with three assists and an ace to go along with her 27 digs.
Kellie Bartman led the Clarion offense with 15 kills, eight digs, three blocks, and two aces. Kaitlyn Anderson also had a strong night for the Golden Eagles adding 11 digs, nine kills, and one block.
Amanda Gough led the team in assists with 28. Gough also pitched in four digs and one kill in the win. Freshman Corinne Manley had six kills while fellow Freshman Hannah Heeter, a Cranberry graduate, notched five kills.
The win came in front of a strong home crowd of 527 in Tippin Gymnasium. Clarion moves to 24-3 on the season and 15-1 in the PSAC. Clarion returns to action Saturday Oct. 30 at 2 p.m. against Edinboro.
NOTES – Clarion is currently tied with Edinboro for the PSAC West lead. The Fighting Scots claimed a victory over Clarion Oct. 1 to give them the tiebreaker. A win for Clarion would give Edinboro two losses and put Clarion in the driver's seat for the PSAC West crown. Saturday's match is also Senior Day as the Golden Eagles will recognize seniors Nicole Andrusz and Leeann Higginbotham.
