CLARION IMPROVES TO 16-2

Behind 15 kills from Rebecca Webb and 13 kills from Corinne Manley, the Clarion University Golden Eagles volleyball squad defeated Kutztown University by a score of 3-1 Friday evening.

Behind 15 kills from Rebecca Webb and 13 kills from Corinne Manley, the Clarion University Golden Eagles volleyball squad defeated Kutztown University by a score of 3-1 Friday evening.  

Clarion won the first set 25-14 before dropping the second set 22-25.  Clarion then battled back and regained the advantage in the third set by a score of 25-21 and put the match away in the fourth set by a final of 25-15. 

Amanda Gough chipped in 40 assists while Rebecca Beightol provided a spark off the bench tallying 10 assists.  Kellie Bartman added ten kills and the defense was led by Rhianon Brady who had 33 digs. 

Clarion's 16-2 record is the second best 18-game record in school history behind only the 2002 squad who went 17-1.  Clarion had 56 kills over the four sets while Kutztown was kept to 33.  The Golden Eagles return to action tomorrow as they face Cheyney at 10am and West Chester at 5:30pm.  

NOTE-Tuesday's match is our annual Breast Cancer Awareness Match – T-shirts and Pink ribbons will be sold and we will be raffling off items at the match and accepting donations with all proceeds going to the Clarion Hospital Cancer Center.
