TIFFIN, Ohio – The Clarion University women's basketball team hit 10 of 21 three-pointers, but it wasn't enough as the Golden Eagles fell on the road 79-53 to Tiffin Tuesday night.
Emma Fickel led Clarion (1-2) with 21 points on 5 of 11 shooting including 5 of 8 from three-point range while also picking up five steals. But she was the only Clarion player in double digits, although
Miranda Payne and
Jennifer Linkchorst each scored eight points off the bench.
Tiffin (4-0) led 39-30 at halftime before outscoring Clarion 40-23. Karli Mast led the Dragons with a game-high 22 points with Mandy Jaeb adding 17 points.
Clarion shot 34.7 percent from the floor (17 of 49) and turned the ball over 28 times.
Tiffin hit 48.7 percent of its shots (34 of 70) and outrebounded Clarion 42-31.
Joanna Catalano led the Golden Eagles on the glass with nine rebounds while adding four points while
Courtney Healy had five boards, four steals and two points.
Clarion returns to action Dec. 10 when it hosts Urbana at 6 p.m.
NOTES – The 10 three-pointers are the most in a game by Clarion since hitting 11 at Slippery Rock Feb, 20, and the 47.6 percent from behind the arc is the best percentage since taking at least 15 since going 10 of 18 (55.6 percent) against IUP Feb. 7.
