CLARION DROPS 3-2 DECISION TO GANNON

Golden Eagles will face Gannon in PSAC Playoffs at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Clarion

ERIE – Despite 18 kills from Rebecca Webb, the Clarion University women's volleyball fell in its regular-season finale 3-2 at Gannon Friday night.
 
The Gannon victory means the two teams will meet again Tuesday in the opening round of the PSAC Playoffs with the match set for 7 p.m. at Clarion's Tippin Gym. Clarion (26-4, 17-2 PSAC-West) is the PSAC-West champion and the No. 1 seed from the PSAC-West while Gannon (19-8, 12-6) is the fourth seed from the PSAC-West.
 
Clarion won the first set 26-24 before Gannon won the next two by scores of 25-15, 25-17. The Golden Eagles rallied to take the fourth set 25-22 before the Golden Knights took the set and the match with a 15-6 win. The victory secured a PSAC Playoff berth for Gannon.
 
Kellie Bartman added 14 kills and five digs for Clarion, while Corinne Manley had 12 kills. Amanda Gough had 47 set assists, 11 digs and three kills. Rhianon Brady added 30 digs and Hannah Heeter eight kills and four digs.
 
NOTES – Clarion entered the match ranked No. 1 in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region … The PSAC-West championship is the first PSAC-West title in school history. The Golden Eagles won the PSAC Title in 1988.
