GREENSBURG – Seton Hill used a 22-7 run in the final seven minutes of the first half to build a 17-point halftime lead on its way to an 83-55 win over Clarion in non-conference women's basketball action Sunday afternoon at Seton Hill.
Clarion (1-5) trailed by two, 21-19, following a
Raven Jones three-pointer as the shot clocked wound down with 8:16 left in the half before Seton Hill went on a 12-1 spurt over a three-minute span to break the game open.
Lauren Savulchak had another nice game for Clarion with 14 points, eight rebounds and three steals. It was her second consecutive double-digit game.
Emma Fickel had her fourth double-figure game of the year with a team-high 15 points on 5 of 11 shooting including three three-pointers. Off the bench
Ann Deibert added 10 points for her third double-digit contest of the season while also contributing seven rebounds.
Courtney Healy also had seven boards for her fourth game of the year of five or more rebounds, and
Miranda Payne added six rebounds off the bench.
Seton Hill (7-1) was paced by Anne Marie Olesky's 23 points and six rebounds. Paige Alviani and Lindsay Muchnock came off the bench to combine for 26 points with Alviani scoring 14, all in the first half, and Muchnock 12. Also adding 12 points apiece were Jordan Burkes and Jill Emberg with Burkes adding eight rebounds. It was Burkes' three-pointer that started the key 12-1 run in the first half for the Griffins.
Clarion returns to action Dec. 30-31 at the Fairmont State Classic. The Golden Eagles will take on Fairmont State at 6 p.m. Dec. 30.

Jayla Powell scored her first career points on a layup in the final minute … Clarion shot 33.3 percent for the game compared to 47.1 percent for Seton Hill.
