FAIRMONT, W. Va. – Despite four players scoring in double digits, the Clarion University women's basketball team fell on the road at the Fairmont State Classic 78-67 to host Fairmont State Thursday night.

Raven Jones had her best day in a Clarion uniform scoring a season-high 15 points to go with a season-best seven assists and six rebounds. She was 7 of 10 shooting from the floor and added a pair of steals.
But Fairmont State got a game-high 23 points from Lauren Gilbert, who was a perfect 7 of 7 shooting, while Rachel Murray added 16 points and 11 rebounds off the bench and Kaitlin Snyder 18 points.
Clarion (1-6) led 13-11 halfway through the first half before Fairmont State (7-2) grabbed a 32-24 halftime lead thanks in part to an 8-3 half-ending spurt.
The Falcons then got the lead to 11 early in the second half before Clarion used a 12-2 run fueled by eight points from Fickel to close within a point, 37-36 with just over 16 minutes to play.
Clarion tied the game at 41 with a
Mackenzie Clark 3-pointer at the 14:21 mark. But Fairmont answered with a 22-5 run that started with an 11-1 spurt to take control of the game.
The Golden Eagles are back in action at 1 p.m. Friday when they take on Concord at Fairmont State.
