EDINBORO - Edinboro scored the first seven points of overtime on its way to an 86-79 win over Clarion in a PSAC-West game with no playoff implications for either team.
Clarion entered the game having already clinched second place in the PSAC-West and with it a home playoff game at 7 p.m. Tuesday vs. an opponent still to be determined. Edinboro, meanwhile, entered the game out of the playoff picture.
Nine of the 11 players on Clarion's bench got into the game and eight of them scored led by 20 points from Jamar Harrison on 9 of 15 shooting. Harrison completed a double-double with 10 rebounds while adding three assists and a blocked shot. Lloyd Harrison added 14 points, six rebounds, five assists, three steals and a block with Shameel Carty adding 12 points and 10 rebounds before fouling out late in regulation. Paul McQueen chipped in 10 points, eight boards, four assists, a steal and a career-high five blocks. Greg Parker added nine points, seven rebounds, two helpers and two swipes off the bench.
Edinboro, meanwhile, had four players reach double figures led by Danny Walsh's 19 points and six boards. Byron Knight chipped in 18 points and eight rebounds, Justin Moore 15 points and 12 boards and Chris Bess 14 points and eight rebounds.
The game was tied at 71 at the end of regulation thanks to an old-school 3-point play by Lloyd Harrison with 33 seconds left, but Edinboro's Walsh scored the first seven points of the extra session helping Edinboro outscored Clarion 15-8 in the overtime.
The game was tight throughout and was tied at 30 at halftime.
NOTES - It was Clarion's fourth overtime contest of the season. Clarion is 2-2 in the extra sessions. The four overtime games are the most for the Golden Eagles since 1983, when they also played four ... Clarion will host one of three teams, Mercyhurst, Gannon or California in the PSAC quarterfinals Tuesday ... Clarion drops to 3-23 at Edinboro since 1986.
