SLIPPERY ROCK - Clarion finally found some offense Saturday, but it wasn't enough to avoid a being swept by Slippery Rock in a doubleheader for the second straight day at The Rock.

The Golden Eagles dropped Game One 4-3 and Game Two 10-2 to fall to 1-9 on the season, 0-4 in the PSAC-West.

Clarion, which had gone 21 straight innings without a run, finally broke out of the drought in the top of the first inning of Game One when Jason Krimsky brought home Mark White with an RBI single. White had started the inning with a single and a stolen base.

After Slippery Rock tied the game with a run in the fourth, the Golden Eagles struck again in the top of the fifth when Dane Dobson led off with a single and later scored on a sacrifice fly to left by Nate Weiss.

Slippery Rock, though, retied the game with a run in the bottom of the inning and then took the lead with a two spot in the sixth.

Clarion tried to rally in the seventh and got one run back and had the tying run at second with one out but couldn't push him across. Sean Zimmerman's one-out double to right-center field scored Krimsky, who had started the inning by reaching on an error, but Ken Morgan grounded out and Chad White flew out after Erik Kempton walked.

Brandon Slater took the loss going five innings and allowing four runs, three earned, on five hits and two hit batters while striking out two. Luke Prazenica relieved and pitched a scoreless inning allowing one hit while striking out one.

Morgan led the offense going 3-for-4 with a pair of singles and a double, while Berkes was 2-for-3.

In Game Two, Clarion led 1-0 after a half inning thanks to a an RBI double by Krimsky. But Slippery Rock scored six times in the bottom of the first and three more times in the second to take a 9-1 lead. Clarion added a run in the third thanks to a Krimsky sacrifice fly.

Krimsky was 1-for-3 with a pair of RBIs while Zimmerman was 2-for-3 with a double and also reached on an error.

Berkes took the loss going one-plus inning allowing eight runs, all earned, on eight hits and two walks.

Clarion returns to action Tuesday at Point Park.
