CLARION - Tiffin topped Clarion in a non-conference softball doubleheader Sunday at Clarion winning by scores of 6-1 and 12-3 (6 innings).
The losses drop Clarion to 2-9 on the season. The Golden Eagles face Gannon in a doubleheader starting at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Clarion.
In Game One, Tiffin built a 4-0 lead at the end of 2 ½ innings before Clarion scored an unearned run in the bottom of the third when Randi Pace came home when Carlie Cook reached on a two-out error.
Tiffin, though, added single runs in the fourth and fifth to pull away.
Megan Daley took the loss for Clarion going seven innings and allowing six runs, four earned, on 10 hits, two walks and a hit batter while striking out two. Nicole Lindner had two of Clarion's three hits going 2-for-3.
In the nightcap, Tiffin led 1-0 after three innings but scored 11 runs in the final three innings to end the game. That included four spots in both the fourth and sixth for the Dragons.
Clarion scored twice in the fourth, as Cook tripled home Lollo, who had singled with one out, and then scored on a ground out by Kacie Nemeth. The Golden Eagles then added a run in the sixth when Falicia Witmer tripled and came home on a Lollo groundout to second.
Erica Burkey took the loss going five-plus innings and allowing 10 runs, eight earned, on 11 hits and six walks while striking out four. Nemeth relieved in the sixth and pitched one inning allowing two runs on two hits and a walk.
