(California, Pa.): Clarion traveled to California for a PSAC softball doubleheader on Saturday afternoon and the Golden Eagles were swept by the Vulcans by final scores of 12-0 and 9-0 at Lilly Field.
In game one Cal scored four in the first, three in the second and five in the third to notch a 12-0 win in five innings.
Megan Daily was the starter and losing pitcher for Clarion. Carlie Cook and Kacie Nemeth went 1 for 2 at the plate for the Eagles.
In game two Cal plated four runs in the first, three in the fourth and two in the sixth to post a 9-0 win in 6 innings.
Nemeth was the starter for Clarion going 3.1 innings and giving up 7 runs on 12 hits. Daley came on in relief and tossed 2.1 innings yielding 2 runs on 2 hits.
The Golden Eagles had three hits in the game, one each from Nemeth, Cook and Megan Daley.
Clarion's record drops to 2-13 overall, while Cal raised its mark to 11-8. Clarion will host Bloomsburg in a PSAC-Central contest on Sunday starting at 11am.
