CLARION DROPS A PAIR IN FLORIDA TO START SEASON

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Clarion University softball team dropped a pair of games at the Rebel Games in Kissimmee, Fla., to start the 2010 season Sunday.

The Golden Eagles (0-2) fell 9-1 to Concordia (Minn.) in the season opener before falling to No. 18 C.W. Post 5-2 in the nightcap.

Against Concordia, Megan Daley took the loss allowing eight hits and four walks. Clarion got four singles with Corinna Sternthal, Nicole Lollo, Kacie Nemeth and Katie Baun each getting one.

The against C.W. Post Clarion played a solid defensive game in coming up short. Erica Burkey took the loss allowing nine hits while striking out two.

Offensively for Clarion Sternthal, Baun, Marissa Myers and Nicole Lindner each had singles with Myers delivering an RBI as well.

Clarion returns to action with a pair of games Monday. The Golden Eagles face Seton Hill at 1 p.m. and Chestnut Hill at 5 p.m.

NOTES - The games were the first for Clarion under interim head coach Nicole Banner.
